Say hello to escargot!
I came home from work the other day to find about a dozen crazy snails chilling on my stoop. I was stupefied. Snails, my very own colony of slimy friends? Their just the neighborhood snails that like to come slime around when it's raining or maybe the neighborhood rats have a taste for seafood....either way I'm picking out names for the next time it rains and I will introduce them at a later time.

Thursday night out!
Thursday was cinco de mayo, which means long lines at my favorite burrito spot and mexican independence. I headed out with Courtney and Ryan and we waited patiently in line for some goodness - I got my staple super steak burrito with salsa, hot sauce, and guacamole SO GOOD!
We then ventured to an art show that was BMX themed. Apparently good things happen when engineer nerds from expensive city schools love their bikes! The concept was a lot cooler than the presentation - you'd think kids from a fancy technology school would pay more attention to presentation and make some cool crafty display- eh. What was REALLY COOL was that some dude constructed self-correcting grind pedals and then had a sweet imovie playing over and over showing how the pedals worked every time. Someone designed a city friendly bike rack that doubles as a bench/bus stop which would make bike parking a lot more friendly than chaining it to random poles.
our 3rd and last stop of the night was at this great dive with wood paneling, pew-like benches, lots of city kitsch, super dark basement feel, and this little square hole in the wall you can order food from the neighboring pizza joint. highlights: $2.50 bud light drafts, jukebox, and a back alley unmarked door for a 2nd way to enter the building. cheap cheap cheap.
Avocado ice cream
JP licks isn't close to my home or my job- it's a smart move cuz I'd be spending my rent money getting fat off that goodness. I made a deal with myself to limit buying ice-cream, frozen yogurt and frozen only once per week this summer.
This past Saturday I was walking kind of aimlessly up Harvard ave and got caught in a big ole rain/lightning storm and typical me without an umbrella - I took shelter in Jp licks for a hot 10 minutes and then walked a block to my favorite used book store and grazed through thousands of preloved books. settled on one book about harvesting peppers and another small stories novel thingy that sounded hilarious.
I spent the afternoon alone, at my own pace. It was nice to be out and about, wearing shorts and a fresh pair of chuck taylors and getting to breathe in that spring air.

quality not quantity
There's certain people that leave long-lasting impressions, certain people no matter how long a lapse in contact or conversation, when you get together time had no effect or felt like you/they never left. Most important you're always guaranteed a carefree fun-loving time. You can live in the moment with these people, you can joke about what others take too seriously, you can relate to each others nonconformist tendencies, you can think outwardly and clearly, you can feel your heart beat in your chest. Life is filled with strange currencies and there's a range of reasons from simple and complex why you can't always share frequent times with these people, but you enjoy them when they happen and you keep that positive part fresh in your mind until the next encounter. You know where to find them for quick blips of technological pseudo-socialization, you know that your widely differing paths are likely to intersect from time to time. You don't get mad, sad, or lose sleep - you smile because you've shared something rare.
