RANCID! oh and Rise Against too :)

Wow it's been ah 15 or so years since i've seen Rancid live, there's been some falling out on my part as a fan, i could blame a lot of things, but i'll own the responsibility of lameness for a while. It's cool to be able to go back and see a band i loved when i was a (pre)teenager and have them be consistently awesome.

House of blues in Boston replaced the old Avalon. I was kinda disappointed with the setup and lack of space for fans to actually see the show action, especially being 5 foot 3...Kinda weird to watch the majority of a punk show sitting down, I felt like an ADHD concert-goer at times.
I was psyched the majority of songs were from my 2 fav Rancid albums..............I was also wicked psyched for Chuck being psyched about hearing a ton of old rise against songs, including his favoritist song ever. It was overall damn aweseome.

It brought back great memories and i'm pretty sure i'll have some new ones I won't forget anytime soon.......Thanks to Rancid and Rise Against for the punk rock love and Thanks to Chuck for stellar photo skills and company!! I'll see you boys tonight for ROUND 2 :-)

Wow cool! Not that death is all that awesome, but 2 really great things came from the passing of the "King of Pop" :

1. While vacationing, i found out through mass text messages that Farrah Fawcett & Michael Jackson died on the eve of my birthday, weirdness. On my actual b-day, we went out to this bar that had an awesome DJ spinning classic MJ tunes all night long. It was virtually impossible to avoid Michael Jackson all weekend, which is fine because i dig his music, and obviously could do without what he did with mannequins and little boys. Additionally, they had a huge projection screen playing video footage of some really old concert, and then the DJ was pretty cool about turning the whole celebration of life business into this huge positive unity vibe and the importance of being loving and accepting. I got hugs from people i never met, hugs from friends and new friends and this super nice old man told me i was beautiful (and he wasn't even asking for spare change, wow!)

2. Friends on the news! Way to go hiphop dancin' Val :)
